Degrees

Homeland Security (B.S.)

In addition to providing students with a broad understanding of safety and security issues, the online homeland security bachelor's degree program focuses on security management, emergency management and intelligence studies.

Master's Degree with Concentration in Emergency Management (M.S.)

With the EKU Online Safety, Security and Emergency Management program, students can earn a master's degree with a concentration in emergency management. This 100% online program can be completed in as little as two years and allows individuals to sharpen their skills in the emergency management field.

Master's Degree with Concentration in Homeland Security (M.S.)

With the EKU Online Safety, Security and Emergency Management program, students can earn a master's degree with a concentration in homeland security.  This 100% online program can be completed in as little as two years and allows individuals to sharpen their skills in the homeland security field.

Associates in General Studies with a Homeland Security Concentration (A.A.)

The associate's degree in General Studies with a Homeland Security Concentration is designed for students who want a specialization in Homeland Security while obtaining an associate's degree. Students who have not decided on a bachelor's program major may also use the associate's degree to investigate Homeland Security as a career field.  The associate's degree includes completing the EKU General Education courses, four Homeland Security lower-division courses and three electives.

Associates in General Studies with a Security Management Concentration (A.A.)

The associate's degree in General Studies with a Security Management Concentration is designed for students who want to specialize in Security Management while obtaining an associate's degree.  This degree is recommended for students who plan to later enroll in bachelor's programs in corrections or juvenile justice studies, criminal justice, homeland security, occupational safety and police studies.


Certificates

Certificate in Security Management

Enhance your education with a certificate in security management. Elevate your expertise with core courses in security management, workplace investigations, physical security and personnel security. Then choose from electives like critical infrastructure protection, cyber security and counterintelligence to fine tune your knowledge base.

Certificate in Homeland Security (undergraduate)

Students who are pursuing a degree outside of Homeland Security or want to build their credentials without earning a full degree should consider the undergraduate certificate in Homeland Security. Develop a solid background in the history of homeland security, as well as the foundation needed to address threats to the security of the nation.

Certificate in Emergency Management (undergraduate)

The undergraduate certificate in Emergency Management provides students with the ability to think critically about natural and man-made disasters. This program is geared toward professionals seeking to enhance their educational credentials without committing to a full bachelor's degree and students who want to expand upon their major with a dedicated concentration.

Certificate in Intelligence Studies -- Threat Specialist Option (undergraduate)

The certificate in Intelligence Studies gives you an advantage in gaining employment in the Unites States Intelligence Community at the federal, state, local and tribal levels. Employment opportunities in the Intelligence Community are strong and increasing. The Intelligence Community needs specialists with a variety of academic backgrounds. Combining a Certificate in Intelligence Studies with your academic major and/or minor greatly improves your employment chances.


Minors

Minor in Emergency Management

Enhance your degree with a minor designed to help you think critically about natural and man-made disasters. This minor is not available to those pursuing the B.S. in Homeland Security.

Minor in Homeland Security

Focus on four core areas: homeland security policy, research and technology; critical infrastructure protection; disaster preparedness and response; and intelligence sharing and analysis.

Minor in Security Management

Explore traditional and current theories in leading and managing corporate and government/industrial security operations.
